“Challenging behaviors are just a signal, the fever, the means by which the kid is communicating that he or she is having difficulty meeting expectation… kids do well if they can.” ~ Ross Greene
Shianna is a Licensed Professional Counselor whose passion and experience is working with children and adolescents. She strives to address the needs of the whole child by building on the skills they bring to sessions and providing them the opportunity to expand those skills. All of her work with children and adolescents is to improve their dynamic social-emotional, behavioral, interpersonal, and academic lives. Her individual work emphasizes the importance of the family system and their involvement throughout treatment.
In 2015 Shianna obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Becker College. Following undergrad, Shianna worked under the direct supervision of a BCBA to provide one-on-one support for students on the Autism Spectrum. She then went on to receive a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling with a Concentration in School Consultation in 2017 from Becker College.
She has since found her place helping children and adolescents with a variety of presenting difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and more. She takes a trauma-informed lens first and has experience with this treatment emphasis in children and adolescents. To fully support the needs of children and adolescents, Shianna values collaboration with schools, community partners, and, most importantly, families. Above all, Shianna’s priority is to help the child or adolescent improve their current level of functioning across all aspects of life.
