Esther Akinola, APC

Esther is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Biology from Fort Valley State University, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. She has extensive experience working in community, educational, and crisis-response settings, supporting children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. Her work includes supporting individuals impacted by trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, interpersonal conflict, and issues related to identity and self-esteem.

Guided primarily by Person-Centered Therapy and Reality Therapy, Esther approaches each client with empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. She views clients as the experts of their own lived experiences and strives to create a collaborative therapeutic space where they feel safe, supported, and empowered. Drawing from Reality Therapy principles, she helps clients explore personal choice, strengthen responsibility, and build meaningful solutions that align with their goals and values.

Esther’s Nigerian heritage is an integral part of her identity and deeply influences her belief in resilience, community ,and cultural identity. She incorporates these values into her therapeutic approach, helping clients feel understood and affirmed within the context of their cultural and lived experiences. With a strong background in trauma-informed care, she is passionate about supporting both children and adults as they navigate emotional wellness, challenging life experiences, and pathways to healing.

Outside of her clinical work, Esther enjoys spending time with her family, cooking meals inspired by her Nigerian upbringing, and running and jogging which bring joy and balance to her life.
